Sexual Health

Sexual health is, as defined by the WHO, a state of physical, emotional, mental and social well-being related to sexuality.

Good sexual health requires a positive and respectful attitude to sexuality and sexual relationship. It is important to have safe and enjoyable sexual experience within the agreement of both persons.  At its best, sexuality is a resource and sexual health is an important part of the well-being of a young person, even if sex might not yet be relevant to them at all.

The emotional side of sexual health includes a person’s  free will to decide when to have sex and with whom to practice. Feeling safe with the partner,  positive and respectful attitude towards each other is very important as well.

Physical sexual health includes, for example, family planning and contraception, safe sex, i.e. the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, and regular medical check-ups.
